I"ve purchased Amazon certified renewed stuff before and it had all been pretty great quality so I"d assumed they did a good job with these used MacBook Pros as well. The first one had a broken screen with lines throughout and had refresh rate issues. I sent that one back and got another one - this time the screen was fine but the battery was shot. I returned both and just spent the money on a new MacBook Pro.
For the most part I’m super happy with this purchase. It is made in the year 2017, which is an upgrade from the 2009 I was still using (MacBook Pro is built to last). A couple of things to note. I was send only the MacBook Pro and a generic off brand power cord (the reason for 4 stars). No box, no instructions, no headphones just so you know. There is only 4 thunderbolt ports on the computer (no USB ports-you will need to buy an adapter for about 10.00/Amazon) and one port will be taken up by the power cord. The computer itself works fantastic. I opened the lid it turned on automatically, when I entered my apple information it started to download everything from the cloud. Super easy to use, ran the software update and it is current as if it is a brand new MacBook Pro!! Would buy again would recommend and already have.
So here’s what you need to know. These Renewed macbook are exactly what you should expect a used MacBook Pro 2017 with the Touch Bar. Although you are getting a clean Macbook it’s still used. So when your considering the long term performance of these units you have to take into consideration this was someone’s work machine before you. Yes they are clean, yes they have good keyboard. But internally they are still used it’s a gamble at a good value. I got a MacBook with a small nick on the frame that’s kinda shape and a small dent on the top of the case. Nothing a Dbrand skin couldn’t cover up and keep out of sight. But the battery had 650 cycles on it. For a 2017 MacBook it’s understandably but know that those internal components are still used. Maybe you"ll get lucky and get one that had a battery replaced. I didn’t I just look into how to take care of your macbook and consider paying for replacement items. It’s a gamble you’re either in or out.
I was really surprised when I got this laptop. The memory was doubled, so I was really happy about that. The screen is really nice and the processor is quick. The only thing I would say, is you do have to do some software updates out of the box to get up and running, the only thing I would say like if I’m using some photo shop applications, it does tend to drain the battery in a little bit quicker but overall this is a very nice laptop. If I were to hand it to you, you would never guess that it was refurbished. The people who refurbished this last time did a really amazing job.
Was honestly a little nervous regarding getting this laptop, but it turned out to be a great investment in excellent condition! I heavily recommend buying from Kanga Supply!
